| This is a neat utility for transporting files, larger than
the chosen medium will handle. It chops the file up in smaller pieces, each to fit on
floppy disk, orpossibly for use in successive emails. The block size is rounded to the
largest 2048 byte increment, which is selectable. This version will handle long file
names. It is a good utility for zip files, since the entire zip file can be created,
broken up afterward, and whichever segments don't get transported can be done again
individually. (Update is not compatible with previous version) |

| This program does some unique things. It is one I use all
the time. Edit files in the binary or hexidecimal mode, just like Norton Utilities, but do
so on a network drive, too. Display files. Print files. Sort files. Rename. Change
attributes. Change date and time. Copy and move files. I also wanted to take advantage of
Novell fileserver calls. It is the only directory manager which does this, making it
incredibly fast. It also allows me to cut and paste files of several hundred megabytes,
quickly and easily in binary mode. The latest update includes a paging display for viewing
generated reports. A large file is quickly scanned for form-feed characters, and the
screen scrolls left, right, up, and down to display each page. You can change video mode
to 132 columns for viewing the entire reportwidth at once. This program saves a lot of
paper. |

| This is the Windows 95 version of DDOLD above, having more
capabilities. Many Windows calls are made internally, making this one of the few DOS
programs to use long file names. In the update, sorting is much improved. Also, the
previous version was limited to the number of files in a directory. This version displayed
25,000 files satisfactorily. Though 16bit, it does many things faster and with less hassle
than windows. It's a good compliment to explorer. |

| This program compliments NC.EXE described below. After
copying an entire disk or volume with NC.EXE, the destination can then be compared back to
the source, insuring the entire copy was successful. What's more, files no longer existent
on the source can be deleted from the destination. No actual byte for byte comparison
takes place for files. Only the date, time, and size are compared. Results can be directed
to a file. This program in combination with NC.EXE is a total backup solution. |

| This is a replacement for XCOPY and NCOPY. It uses Novell
fileserver calls. It will create a destination directory, and copy subdirectories. If told
to copy subdirectories, with a selection mask, it will only create those subdirectories
needed. It is the only program I have seen do this. *** Very important, is the ability to
kill the currently executing batch file if an error occurs, or return a DOS ERRORLEVEL if
an error occurs. Batch jobs can therefore run totally automated and securely. The latest
version can exclude files, or use an exclusion list. This is incredibly powerful for doing
backups. I use it to back up an entire Novell server to a secondary server. Also, any
errors in copying can be output to an error file. How many files and bytes is also put in
that file, so each day, an entire report can be available on the printer showing complete
backup status. The latest update causes the program not to absorb keystrokes when checking
for CTRL-C. |

| This is an actual .BAT file which runs automatically each
night at the developers company. NC.EXE and DCMP.EXE perform the backup. See how the
resultant report is generated. This is placed onhis desk each morning for verification. In
his opinion, a second fileserver is the best backup option.. |
